Lakhota Nature Club Jamnagar


            Lakhota Nature Club is a leading Non-Government Organization of Jamnagar region of Gujarat-India which is working for grassroots level nature awareness and conservation since 2001. It is well-known as “LNC” in Jamnagar. Lakhota Nature Club had been registered under trust act and society act with F/878/Jamnagar and Guj/971/Jamnagar.

Lakhota Nature Club’s main aim is nature awareness and conservation. The club also helps various Government Organization, Semi-Government Organization and Non-Government Organization for nature awareness and conservation.

Lakhota Nature Club is running snake-rescue and bird-rescue 24x7 free helpline for Jamnagar city. Due to this activity, snake hunting almost stopped in Jamnagar city. Every Sunday except winter and rainy days, club organizes snake demonstration (exhibition) with support of Jamnagar Forest Department and Jamnagar Municipal Corporation at Aquarium near Lakhota Lake of Jamnagar for open public and also organizes snake demonstration in educational and non-educational organizations. The club also organizes Bird-watching, Star-gazing, Marine-life walk, Nature Education Camp in Locals & Himalayas and other Nature Awareness & Conservation projects.

Albino Checkered Keelback in Jamnagar

As the activity of Snake Rescue, we caught an Albino Checkered Keelback snake in Jamnagr on 2nd Feb, 2012 at 19:20 IST.  This snake is very rare in the world. Perhapes this is the second record in India and first record in Gujarat.


Award for Astronomy Day - 2011 by Astronomical League

The Lakhota Nature Club had been organized the program to celebrate the Astronomy Day -2011. The main objective of Astronomy Day is "Bringing Astronomy to the People". We made a program of Slide show and sky observing and Telescope viewing on 7th May, 2011 (7th May was declared as Astronomy Day for 2011 by Astronomical League).

The Astronomical League has awarded the Lakhota Nature Club for the Astronomy Day celebration program as "Best Event, Large Population Category" for year 2011.
